Allow me to take you back to a simpler time. A time of big hair and bigger shoulder pads. Come with me to the Oh, Those High School Dances bloghop hosted by the radical Kelley Lynn and totally tubular Emily R. King. The rules are simple: post pictures of your high school dances; share your funniest high school dance story; and that's it! Prizes will be given so join in now. It's not too late. To whip it. Whip it good.
In case you missed the references, my prom took place in that pit-of-fashion era, the 80s. 1987 to be exact. Witness the horror:
My funny story? The picture is worth a thousand better words than I could write.
Happy dancing queens and ¡Buen Provecho!
LOL! Best pic I've seen so far. Oh, the eighties. What were people thinking? :)
ReplyDeleteThat is SO funny. Seriously. I can't stop laughing. And you set it up beautifully. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat is he holding? Or is that part of his suit? haha
That is a great picture.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Suze :)
DeleteWhat's he holding and what's on his head?
ReplyDeleteLuckily our prom dress styles just started to changed, so we didn't have as many long poufy big shouldered dresses as the previous decade. Whew! But we still had the poufy hair. Gotta love the polka dots.
That picture is definitely worth 1,000 words. His hair . . .oh, bad. I had the 80s style stuff going on too . . .why did we love poofiness so much?
ReplyDeleteI think you look gorgeous. But, what is he wearing? Haha. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ilima! Ok, for everyone who's asked, he is wearing a tuxedo he designed himself. The thing in the middle in on the tux, not in his hand (I know it's hard to tell). It's a multi-colored/faceted rose with a matching headband. He was very artistic :)And yes, it's hilarious now. I wish I could find the pic of my face the first time I saw it. I wasn't too happy, but I supported him none the less. Ah, young, blind love :)
DeleteIs he wearing a brooch and a headband? B/C that's awesome!
ReplyDeleteYou look great!
You went with Neville Longbottom?
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome!!
What is that shiny thing on his chest? And the headband is pretty darn cool as well.
At least you had a cute date. I'm lovin the sleeves!
ReplyDeleteOh man your dress is eightiestastic!! And when does he have on his shirt????
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
Is your date wearing a headband? And a broach? Wow! You look hot though. I love it :)
ReplyDeleteSomeone beat me to it, but my first thought was, "He's wearing a headband Karate Kid style!"
ReplyDeleteYour hair is actually pretty good for '87.
Oh my god I love this! This is exactly what I was hoping for! What is he wearing? And I actually really love your dress!
ReplyDeleteLOL - thanks, Theresa! I loved it, too. Especially all the little hearts on the skirt :)
DeleteKnuckle bump fellow 1980's dancer! Now I happen to think our big shoulder pads and bigger hair were smashing. And I totally miss the over sized shirts.
ReplyDeleteOh. My gosh. I love it. So so so much. Thank you for sharing ;)
ReplyDeleteI love the 80s ;)
